Danny Duncan and Jake Paul get into their antics
Coming off a boxing match against Nate Diaz in Texas on Saturday, Jake Paul visited his friend, Danny Duncan.
The two YouTube personalities, famous for antics online, cruised in Englewood, ate in North Port and — whoops — started a fire.
“We rode scooters around Englewood, stopped at the ice cream shop on Dearborn Street and went to my land and shot guns,” Duncan said. “We had a small demolition derby and accidentally caught a van on fire.”
Duncan, an Englewood native who owns new ice cream stores, spends time between his hometown and California filming for his social media channels. He’s been friends with Paul since 2019.
Paul, 26, and his older brother, Logan, dominated YouTube for several years. The influencer turned professional boxer is featured in a new Netflix documentary, “Untold: Jake Paul The Problem Child.” Paul also starred in the Disney Channel series “Bizaardbark.”
The pair’s adventures will download on Duncan’s social media pages Sunday.
They went with another friend to Cocoplum Plaza in North Port to eat at Five Guys.
“Englewood lacks food options,” Duncan said. “We were only in North Port for like 15 minutes, but we were in Englewood all day.”
The trio was in North Port long enough to spread on social media.
The Farlow’s encounter
For his millions of followers, Duncan recently posted himself outside Farlow’s on the Water Restaurant in Englewood. He asked an employee if they were there when a rented Ford Mustang GT-500 plunged off a bridge on State Road 776 through a fence and landed near the restaurant’s entrance. The employee told Duncan it was a scary situation.
“It’s my favorite restaurant in Englewood, I’m glad no one was hurt,” Duncan said of the July 26 wreck.
Then Duncan looked into the video camera recording him and said, “That’s why you always hire a good contractor like Bill Truex (a local businessman and Charlotte County commissioner).”
More to come from Duncan
After Hurricane Ian, Duncan donated more than $50,000 to help survivors.
The hurricane held up some of the work on his 18-hole miniature golf course on Dearborn Street, adjacent to the Elsie Quirk Public Library in Englewood. He’s also working on permitting for another business to boost family fun in Englewood.
He has teamed up with 16 Handles Yogurt to open up new shops. The shop has more than 35 stores, including in Naples, Boston, Tampa and New York, he said. He is the co-owner and “chief creative officer” of the New York based frozen yogurt franchise.
“I am opening a 16 Handles Yogurt shop on Dearborn Street near the miniature golf course,” Duncan said.
